Get Involved with Hearty Squirrel
There are lots of ways you can get involved with Hearty Squirrel!
Volunteering in the stalls
As a food-cooperative, we need active squirrels to help run our stalls. You can volunteer in both the Kings Buildings stall and the stall in the Gordon Aikman Lecture Theatre. We always appreciate new volunteers and will teach you the ropes in no time!
As a volunteer, you help sort and sell our produce, both dried and fresh - and you get a discount.
You can volunteer for an hour or two, learn about how the co-op works, meet other volunteers, and you'll be helping with a vital part of the co-op's operation.
To sign up to volunteer, contact us to join the mailing list and then put your name down on the volunteering doodle polls that are sent out weekly. You can also follow our facebook page and join our group to get more information on when to volunteer. We look forward to seeing you!
Becoming a member
Join the food co-op as a member to be able to place your orders for bulk wholefoods from Greencity Wholefoods. Become a member of Hearty Squirrel by paying for a membership on the EUSA website for £3.00. Send us an email after you have done this to gain access to the Greencity catalogue and join the Hearty Squirrel mailing list.
Organising the co-op
Squirrels operate both in front and behind the scene. If you want know more about cooperatives, you can help by getting involved in the organising of the food co-op! We hold fortnightly meetings every Tuesday at 19 in Room 1 in the The University of Edinburgh Chaplaincy. We share big and small ideas for Hearty Squirrel, and organise the running of the co-op for the weeks ahead. No experience needed, just come along!
If you want to know more about getting involved in any way - big or small - check out our facebook page for updates on stalls, doodles, and upcoming meetings.
